Tom Ridge Admits to Bush Fearmongering

Ex-Homeland Security Czar Tom Ridge has admitted, in his new book, to government manipulation of the “security threat level.” This news has me in shock! I wrote about that here and here.
Former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge says pressure from fellow Cabinet members to raise the nation’s terror alert level just before the 2004 presidential election helped convince him it was time to quit working for President George W. Bush.
In a new book, Ridge says that despite the urgings of former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and then-Attorney General John Ashcroft he objected to raising the security level, according to a publicity release from the book’s publisher.
Yes, there are still people around who take this thing seriously.

Methinks that whatever government teet Ridge is currently suckling on is about to run dry. Ergo, he’s painting a clown face of faux “contrition” for being a member of the Bush junta in hopes that such pandering will land him a cush job somewhere in the Obama Politiburo. Remember Bob Dole begging Bill Clinton for a job in phase two of that administration after Dole’s thrashing in the ’96 elections? What better demonstration of the artificiality of partisan labels among the Establishment? Anyone who thinks that Ridge, plankowner of that tax-consuming totalitarian failure called the Department of Hopeless Stupidity, regrets a minute of his time at the helm of that bureaucratic monster or who would buy his propaganda-and-deceit-filled book would probably also fill their investment portfolio with GM stock.
