This article from Gizmodo showcases a very interesting house that was built around a three-story bookcase. The photos are amazing. As usual, the comments section reveals some unusual thoughts.

It might be interesting, but I would agree with a commenter, Chris Godsoe, who says this in reference to the Gizmodo piece….
“It all looks very homey. Like in the,”entire house can be cleaned with a fire hose, dried out with blast driers, and ready for the next tenants in a single day” kind of deal. I seriously do not enjoy these minimalistic, industrial houses. I just don’t get the concept of having a house that has all of the delicateness of a Home Depot.” My sentiments, and that comes from someone who has at least a hundred boxes of books and unable to put them all out for lack of space. My goal would be to have one of those ‘manly’ type libraries with dark wood, cherry desk, wing back chairs, etc. replete with brandy snifter, assortment of wines..you get the picture. But minimalism doesn’t float my boat…I appreciate a warm, aesthetically pleasing environment ordered by feng shui and much peace and quiet.
