Thank You For Clarifying Hand Washing

Flu season is always stupid season. The pseudo-health ninnies seem to proliferate almost overnight. ‘Tis the season to be scolded by the hand washing police. Yes, this is something I found hanging in a public restroom about vigorous brainwashing hand washing. Note the grammar, especially where it reads “The … CDC recommends that healthcare facilities should routinely wash their hands.” I didn’t realize that whole facilities had hands?

I think the word they’re looking for there is employees not facilities.

    Or perhaps faculty.

At least they could get their facts right. Warm water? WRONG. Anyone with half a brain cell knows that germs proliferate in the warm water pipes. And use antibacterial soap only if you want to weaken your immune system. Cold water and standard soap are fine.

Thanks for posting this, Karen.  Akin to what you see in the photo are the droves of people who line up dutifully to receive their annual flu shot.

At the place I work, I’m constantly amazed at the high number of my co-workers who willingly allow themselves to act as human pin-cushions for a product of questionable value.  Oddly, I have yet to have the flu, but many of my co-workers come down with it every year, in spite of their vaccinations.

    Keep up the great work!

Howard Hughes used to wash his hands a lot. At least now we have step by step by step instructions for it. It seems that people are quite proud of ‘being OCD’ because they haven’t cultivated any more usefull knowledge/skills. As for myself, I don’t wash my hands very often. But I haven’t been sick enough to need to see a doctor in over 30 years either. I guess I’m crazy.

Sorry to hear you have to limp along on half a brain cell, George. I have billions of them, and I’m afraid I have to tell you that hand washing in warm or hot water is more effective than using cold water. Antibacterial soap is good, too, if you want to have clean hands (but I see that some people here don’t, and I’m glad they’re not handling my food). You’ll be exposed to plenty of bacteria and viruses by other means that will suffice to keep your immune system properly exercised. Hand washing alarmism is just silly.

If jewelry harbors germs, wouldn’t you want to leave it on so the requisite antibacterial soap can work its magic there too?

“and washing alarmism is just silly.” Suit yourself, Tommy.
The “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” thing applies to germs as well. They love a half-assed slapdown ’cause they come back with a vengeance.
And now that I re-read the list, “Discard paper towel in the appropriate receptacle?” What…
are they making that shit up as they go?
