Taser Time!

A couple of weeks I posted a nauseating video spot for the TV show centered around the gun-toting, taser-bearing policewomen of Broward County. From the “Who’s Your Nanny” blog, I get this photo of an advertisement for the show.

Of course it’s on the “TLC” channel.

Instead of Tender Loving Care, we see the tender mercies of the monster state.

The Verizon ad is the second thing I noticed. I wish there were a libertarian based ISP I could switch to. I suspect operating an isp is a losing proposition judging by all the past failed isp’s or else I might be tempted to start one myself. – Did I need to add, that advertisement sickens me, and it sickens me further to know that ad makes some Americans say, “Yeah! That’s cool, there’s alot of people who deserve to get tasered.” More often than not, I hear so-called Christians saying this.

This fascination with tasers reminds me of how police love to demonstrate police dog attacks against the guy wearing the Michelin Man suit, many times in front of kids. Soon we will see taser demonstrations since this is now the favorite cop toy. Dog and taser attack demonstrations at the same time. If they are not doing this already, they will eventually.

What does it say about popular culture that the darwinian process of television production and advertising for same results in shows/ads like this? It’s not like these things are free to produce–someone somewhere expects a return on investment.

One ad for this cop reality show says “Taser Time” and another asks, “Cavity Search Anyone?”. The real reality is that we need more critical thinking when it comes to the police. Hmm, I wonder if the folks at TLC know of Broward Co. law enforcement’s reputation? I also wonder if the “Police Women of Broward County” will protect the citizens from the criminals with a badge? They sure could use it: 1)Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Charles Grady recently plead guilty to two counts of misdemeanor battery for sexually assaulting two women during traffic stops. 2) Broward County deputy Jonathan Bleiweiss was recently arrested on allegations that he sexually assaulted as many as eight different illegal immigrant men. Investigators suggest that Bleiweiss hand-picked his alleged victims while on duty and then repeatedly coerced them into having sexual encounters with him.
3)Broward County police officer Stephen Olenchak is accused of raping a female teenager while his wife laid passed out on the bed next to them. Police are investigating whether he also slipped drugs into their drinks. 4)
Broward County police officer Vally Getejanc is accused of holding a gun to his pregnant wife’s head and threatening to kill her.
    5)
Broward County police officer Jonathan D. Sanders was accused of threatening a woman with arrest if she did not perform oral sex on him while on duty and in uniform. Personally I have to wonder if there are more victims out there who are afraid to come forward, since cops tend to protect their own.

Time will only tell, but it’s possible that this misuse of Tasers as a “compliance” tool, instead of a less than lethal weapon, will backfire on some of these armed, statist-supported cretins.

You can bet on that being the case. A cursory glance of the online newspapers on any given day will reveal at least two dozen stories of cops arrested or on trial for some felony. If these are the cases that have been REPORTED, you can bet that they’re just frost on the tip of the proverbial iceberg and that hundreds, if not thousands of other cases of criminal swine behaving badly go unreported by the victims. After all, to whom are you gonna report their crimes, other than their fellow ‘bangers in the Fat Blue Line Gang?

I was going to post this to a friend who supports tazerings, does it sound about right? Should it be, may make you a fascist, Or… it does make you a fascist?: http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2009/08/mom_in_minivan_tasered_in_traf.html – Does this woman who did nothing illegal deserve to get tasered? Who decides? What if instead, it was a really bad guy who committed a serious crime? If you think the cop should decide who to administer pre-trial punishment to, you favor the Executive usurping the Judicial branch of government. This choice is a very totalitarian and fascists action and supporting such may make you a fascist. As a result, you’re also in favor of torture, a very un-Christian like position. Lastly, you favor punishment without due cause, which is against the US Constitution, which some would say is an Un-American position. Others who love death, war, and put the government before their own families would disagree and say, “Zap ‘em!” Would it change your position, if instead of a tasering, it was a sexual attack by the officer? Why?

If you want to waste a bit of time or just want to become more disgusted in general, TLC is apparently posting these ‘shows’ to their site:
