This is just a small piece of the action described in the Pocono Record. At the 11th hour, the politicos and their co-assailants ran around trying to buy up the last few votes needed to insure victory of their totalitarian health bill. Michigan representative Bart Stupak sold his vote for grants for three airports in his rural Michigan district. I still remember Obama saying, on the eve of the vote, that the passage of the bill would represent average Americans and it would be a “huge victory over special interests.”

And how many Obama worshippers actually believe this? No modern White House – not that of Bush, Clinton, Bush, Sr., Reagan or otherwise – has been so controlled by special interests, whether they are a part of the government itself, or quasi-governmental beneficiaries with the power to direct and/or buy legislation. See this article at JBS.org: “Special Interests and the Health Care Debacle.” And somehow, the chants of “change” still echo among those who touch, and cling to, the hem of His garment.

In one of the latest power struggles behind the scenes in Washington, the wealthy and well-represented plastic surgeons – and their clientele – won their battle. As politicians scramble to find ways to pay for the unsustainable national health care plan, they were focusing on taxing cosmetic procedures as a way to raise zillions. This was known as the Botax. The powerful interests that represent plastic surgeons – and protect their profits – stepped in, and along with the American Medical Association, they were able to persuade the Senate to go after another industry that doesn’t have the power and representation of the medical industry. Enter the poor tanning salons.

The American Academy of Dermatology Association, a powerful lobby that represents dermatologists, stepped up to claim that the 10% tax should be shifted to the backs business owners who own tanning salons. Such a tax will save us all because, in the political special interests world of “tax them not us,” tanning salons are deemed evil, and accordingly, increasing their costs will reduce the occurrence of skin cancer.

“We suggested that the tanning tax would be a better alternative to the cosmetic tax and hopefully will reduce the incidence of skin cancer down the road,” said David M. Pariser, president of the American Academy of Dermatology Association, which represents dermatologists.

…”Indoor tanning is a practice which is a known carcinogen,” said the dermatologist group’s Dr. Pariser.

After the tax was shifted to the tanning industry, the AMA decided to support the Senate’s bill. Here’s Dan Humiston, president of the Indoor Tanning Association:

We do have a lobbying presence in Washington,” he said, “but not to the extent of the medical industry.

Dan is exactly right. So therefore, a select group of empowered bullies that represent a small slice of the government of the United States have protected the wealthy and powerful from their wicked hammer, and will instead let loose their redistribution terrorism upon an industry where most businesses are family owned and the majority of consumers are middle class. In fact, tanning salon owners are defenseless as compared to the mainstream medical industry. Their business has already been devastated by the abysmal economy because tanning is a highly discretionary purchase. As usual, I ask – are people getting fed up yet?

Pelosi, however, is far more than just a National Socialist. She is an ultra-wealthy, powermongering pig who uses her power, wealth, and position to obtains largesse for other powerful interests because it further enriches all parties to the transaction, while these political plunderings steal from the powerless poor and middle class, making them poorer and less capable of self-directing their lives. The corruption and influence brandished by Pelosi as a result of her power position is far more deadly, disturbing, and evil than her ideology, which is secondary to her lust for control.

Susie Kessler couldn’t care less if she embarrasses her 16-year-old son, Donne, at least when it comes to his driving. Donne has to drive around with a big magnet on the back of his car that reads “Caution — Newly Licensed.” And if Kessler has her way, your teen driver is going to be embarrassed too. Through the nonprofit she founded, Caution and Courtesy Driver Alliance, the Kennesaw mom has sold about 15,000 of those magnets across the country. Now, working with a Georgia state senator inspired by her campaign, she plans to support a potential bill next session that would mandate use of such “Caution” magnets by all young drivers.

Susie Kessler thinks that her “oh-so-great” cutesy, little personal ideas should be forced on everyone else because that will make her feel darn good. She is a bored, brainless, busybody citizen-tyrant who is rotten to the core. Here’s Pathetic Bilge Central right here.

Is there something wrong with this headline on Bloomberg News today? “Obama Gets Drug-Industry Booster With Pledge That Keeps Elderly Medicated.” Here’s a few snippets:

The pharmaceutical industry pledge includes $30 billion “that could be used” to provide discounts for medicines, said Reid H. Cherlin, a White House spokesman. That will help narrow a gap in Medicare drug coverage known as the doughnut hole. The allowances will encourage patients to remain on expensive brand- name medicines even when cheaper generic copies are available, Tim Anderson, an analyst with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in New York, said in a note to clients yesterday.

“Filling the doughnut hole should help seniors stay on their branded therapies and lessen the tendency for seniors to switch from brands to generics once they hit the donut hole,” Anderson said. “This is critical because once patients convert to generics, they seldom revert back to the brand and are essentially lost to cheaper generics forever.”

This entire deal is nothing more than corporate state-special interest politicking on the part of Big Pharma, Big Government, and enriched special interests, with all players openly admitting their very specific goals. As the article clearly states, Big Pharma is willing to cut slightly into its profit margins in exchange for turning people – especially the elderly – into lifetime customers. Perpetual drug zombies buying their patent-protected, overpriced drugs. Another part of the deal is that government has promised it will “inoculate” Big Pharma from proposed regulations that would cost it some more dough.

And yet, this scam is being sold by Obama & Friends as beneficial to the American middle class. It’s nothing more than another corporate state crime of rob-and-redistribution. Wealth will be redistributed from the wage-earning middle class to the welfare state poor and the corporate state rich, all in plain view and plain language, for all to bear witness.
