Robb Wolf on Things Paleo
Sunday, February 12, 2012This is a fantastic 68-minute video from Robb Wolf that covers the basics of the paleo diet. As one blogger wrote, “Robb did a masterful job of explaining how putting diet into an evolutionary biology framework allows for a deeper understanding how diet impacts chronic diseases.” This video is essentially a top-level summary done in a format very similar to his podcasts. Robb covers many topics on a broad level that is very easy for the layman to understand.
Robb, an avowed Ron Paul supporter, even answers a question about what should be taught, about diet, to children in schools. Robb admits that he is nervous about suggesting any top-down, authoritarian attempt at shoehorning a public health policy, because these efforts are akin to organized brainwashing that leaves us with such disastrous outcomes as the federal food pyramid. Robb, like all paleos, favors private, bottom-up efforts to educate the public, as well as decentralized, sustainable food systems. I highly recommend this video to those who are looking for a broad introduction to the paleo-primal-ancestral health lifestyle.

In a very similar vein, take a look at the work of Dr. Weston A. Price at:
http://www.westonaprice.org
concerning the essential nature of animal foods (fats and proteins) in the ancestral diets of the most healthy cultures on the planet. This site and its sponsoring organization are a marvelous source of diet and health information with solid science backing it up. By far the best on the topic that I’ve ever found.

An after thought about the Weston A. Price Foundation: they are actively involved in fighting the current tyrannical efforts by our government to deny citizens the right to acquire and consume raw (unpastuerized) milk through private transactions between persons and farmers. The science supporting the superiority of raw milk (over industrial milk) in a healthy diet is extensive and compelling. They are also fighting the state of Illinois over the practice of damaging the health of prison inmates by forcing them to eat soy-based foods.
(I add this comment as a response to this blog’s headline: “Resisting tyranny one word at a time”. Thanks!)
