Of course the US Government tracks real unemployment. It’s called an “alternative measure of labor underutilization.” 16.1% for August 2011.

    Casual observation leads me to add at least ten percentage points to that figure to get the real unemployment rate.

    If you read shadowstats, they have excellent info on the REAL state of affairs.
