Last night on NPR, they were discussing the Obama Senate scandal. The host actually asked a guest this question: “So is there something about politics in particular that brings forth this sort of behavior and corruption and gives rise to these types of events?” What’s worse than her asking the question is the guest replying “no.” It’s astonishing that people who spend their careers covering politics cannot define the word, let alone define what it is that politicians are elected to do. I presume these types have never before come across Lord Acton or his very common phrase.
