Piers Morgan is a Weenie

The famous Piers Morgan – Larry Pratt debate on guns in America has made its rounds on the Internet, and much has been noted about the incredibly poor way in which Morgan handled himself with Pratt. If you have not watched this interview, do it now, but preferably not at mealtime. Here is the transcript of the show.

At the 2-minute point in the video, Morgan ramps up his emotions and begins to spiral out of control. He keeps asking Pratt, “How can you argue….?,” but each time Pratt tries to explain that argument, Morgan cuts him off. Pratt just shuts up and starts to smirk – and how can he not? It is then that Morgan goes crazy, whining to Pratt, “please stop laughing…please stop laughing…I’ll ask you the question if you can stop laughing.” Morgan then calls Pratt an “unbelievably stupid man.” Pratt sticks to his thesis and maintains control throughout the entire display of emotive ranting gone wild on the part of poor Piers. In addition, Morgan’s shrill voice is piercing to the point of total annoyance. And Morgan insists that Pratt has “no coherent argument whatsoever.” The best Morgan can muster to Pratt is, “You don’t care….you don’t care, do you?”

When an interviewer who is on national TV, interviewing a guy who is at the top of his game, succumbs to emotional dart throwing with words that have no meaning, the interview has become nothing more than a forum for showcasing one person’s “I care” mentality. Because if you are presented on national TV as “not caring,” that’s all that needs to be said for the majority of the government-schooled masses who have been educated in sound bites as children and entertained in sound bites as adults.

I once had an accidental breakfast with Larry Pratt and Lew Rockwell. I think this was in Phoenix about 8-10 years ago, at one of the Ernie Hancock conferences. As you can imagine, that was a lively discussion. I found Pratt to be very serious and gracious, just like he appeared in this interview.

Though some folks may not like Ted Nugent for his warmongering, he presents some excellent and passionate moments on the gun question. Here he tells Piers Morgan, “Anybody who wants to disarm me…and make me unarmed and helpless, can drop dead.”
