OMG! Flu Cases Reported in Michigan.

When I heard this on the radio on the way home from work today, I burst out laughing: twelve cases of the flu have been reported and confirmed thus far this flu season in the state of Michigan.

Michigan Department of Community Health Director James Haveman said in a statement Monday that the flu vaccine is the “single best way” to protect against the illness.

So … who actually “reports” the flu when they get the flu? I have never reported the flu to any authorities, nor has anyone else who I have ever known. When I used to get the flu, I figured that my various bodily rejections, nausea, headaches, and general suckiness was my business, and “reporting” that would have been TMI (Too Much Information) for anyone, including my closest, dearest friends.

Also, what is the official “season” for the flu? The fact that it is identified as a season, with the tracking of all known cases, means there has to be an official start, as well as an end. Always, this hype begins predictably, with most of these rinse-and-repeat media organs reporting the customary revelation: “There’s an “ample” supply of flu vaccine this year, health officials say.” Indeed, all the little Flu Czars are lamenting the fact that in spite of all of the Government-Big Pharma propaganda and vaccination nation hysteria last year, Americans were consistently absent at the poke-a-rama last year. From FiercePharma:

As flu season approaches, vaccines companies are working against the odds to market their influenza vaccines. Last year, the overall U.S. vaccination rate was about 42%–a far cry from the target rates of 80% for people ages 6 months to 65 years and 90% for those older than 65.

Vaccination rates ran the gamut in the 2011-2012 influenza season. For children between 6 months and 23 months, it was 75%, while just over a third of adolescents received the jab, according to the CDC. About 39% of adults were vaccinated, Reuters reports.

…But judging by vaccination rates from the previous flu season, the manufactuerers–CSL, GlaxosmithKline ($GSK), ID Biomedical, AstraZeneca’s ($AZN) MedImmune, Novartis ($NVS) and Sanofi Pasteur–will all be hoping for a change of pace.

They don’t even hide it anymore, which makes this whole sham ripe for condemnation.

Seems every store we go into now has a sign saying to get
your flu shot here. Yes, since when did we ever even let
anyone know we had the flu…or a cold…or a broken whatever.
Guess it is important to get everyone out there to report every
little boo boo now…adds to the entire americus boobus thing.

Required by employer this year to stay employed. What is a person to DO? I can’t walk around the office all day every day with a mask!
Boy did I get sick 6 hrs. after receiving the vaccine. Aches. Chills. Fever.
NOT happy. And of course they recommended ibuprophen (MORE drugs) to help with the reaction.

Karen – the mandates are horrifying. It takes a lot of effort or $$$$ to opt out (on religious or legal grounds).

Wait till ObamaCare mandates yearly flu shots…

I’ll assume that the cases reported are due to people turning up to the doctor’s office for treatment. Yeah, I don’t get that either. Give me some grunt candy, some comfort food, and a hot toddy before bed and I’ll be alright.

Get in line, everyone! There’s no need for responsible sunlight exposure or vitamin D supplements, we have a multi billion dollar flu vaccine business to support!

As Karen said above, health care workers are being required to get a flu shot. The place I worked for did not even offer the mask option–you had to get the shot unless you had a medical exemption signed by a doctor or you had a religious exemption approved by the employer (in order to get a religious exemption, you had to provide info about your religion, state who your religious leader is, where you worship, etc.) KDC is exactly right, there are exemptions available but requiring way more time/effort and/or $$ than most people have. Almost more frightening, though, is how few people seem to see anything wrong w/this setup.

As Karen said above, health care workers are being required to get a flu shot.

The cynic in me (i.e., my more powerful side) says that this is just another way of deliberately driving more people out of the health care field in order to make care even more scarce, expensive, inefficient, and dangerous.
