My wife recorded “V” last night, and we’re going to watch it tonight…we’ll see if it’s as good as the original from back in the Eighties.

All of this is no doubt true, but it is important that we constantly remind ourselves that no occupant of the Oval Orifice in the modern era (and very likely in the nation’s earliest years as well) has been anything but a figurehead and a mouthpiece for higher powers. The current simian marionette is no exception. While he probably agrees with his policies in a purely abstract ideological way (which is not to say that he would EVER consent to living under them himself, of course), he did not formulate them, nor does he have the authority to impose them according to his own timetable or priorities. One independent, unauthorized move, and he’ll find himself in Richard Nixon’s or JFK’s predicament.

I strongly suspect that once some of the more extreme acts of freedom usurpation become too costly and inconvenient for the ruling class and its figureheads, we will see a full-fledged about-face, accompanied by not-so-subtle MSM efforts to consign history to the memory hole.

As far as presidential stupidity is concerned, the trend over the last two decades has definitely been a slide down the IQ scale with each new administration. If this continues, by the time any pretense of representative democracy is shed and martial law is finally declared, the Establishment will install a “President-For-Life” who resembles a medieval hereditary monarch, someone who will make George Dubya and King Barack I seem in retrospect like Albert Einsteins.
