New Libertarian Website

I want to point out a new libertarian news/commentary website: American Daily Herald. The site has just had its soft launch, and I am signing up as a regular columnist. Though I have so many irons in the fire, it’s a good thing for me because I need to be pushed to be ultra-productive in 2011. There is no better time to do that than winter in Michigan. January – blah!

The proprietors are Dennis and Denise Behreandt, and I worked with them back when they ran the daily news site for the John Birch Society. That site no longer exists as its content is now rolled into the New American website. Dennis and Denise are really good people to work with, so I look forward to working with them again in 2011. Visit the site and let them know I sent you.

Karen, I just took a look at that site, and it appears to be thoroughly conservative–not libertarian. Sure, they seem to be libertarian on economic matters, but they also appear to be strident social conservatives, anti-immigration, and pro-military aggression. And while evangelical Christianity and libertarianism are certainly not mutually exclusive, using an excerpt from the Bible as a story in one of the news sections of the site has conservative written all over it.

Karen, thanks for the heads up about American Daily Herald. I did a quick stop by earlier today, but in the future I’ll spend a bit more time. My first reaction, after clicking over, was that the layout looked a bit too much like the NYT’s site.

“…using an excerpt from the Bible as a story in one of the news sections of the site has conservative written all over it.”

    I disagree with that generalization.

Not sure about the website though.

I checked out this website and found some interesting facts regarding congressmen and their ‘freedom’ quotient. Although you could never pay me a million bucks to move back to Detroit, when contrasting this freedom index of just how constitutional congressmen are from all the different states, I must admit about the only thing I could envy about Michigan is the fact that their scores are terrific compared to New England, and CT and MA in particular. Both the latter states suck bigtime on the freedom index…go figure we have the largest number of moronic Ivy Leaguers here…and it is obvious to me that freedom is not high on their list.

Thanks for the link to the site.

There seems to be some issue with their Atom / RSS feeds. I can’t get either to bring up any articles in Google Reader.

I just sent an inquiry to them, mentioning that I found their site through your post here.
