At an NAACP convention in Detroit in 2007, a funeral was held where the N-word was buried in a ceremony in order to “say goodbye and good riddance to this unwanted and unwelcome interloper in our community.” Some people are upset that the pastor of a Warren church (suburban Detroit) has exhumed the N-word for present usage. He says he did so to “punctuate his message of God’s love.”
