Michael Moore: “capitalism did nothing for me, starting with my first film.”

Why is that? Because he had to “beg, borrow, and steal” to make his first film. I didn’t know that free-market capitalism was supposed to be a “system set up to help the working class” make films that the public might want to view/buy. See the story on how the market failed him.

There’s perhaps more to the Moore story than meets the eye: http://www.wave3.com/Global/story.asp?S=2928401

Every village needs their idiot. I would say that not only did our economic system help him greatly, it obviously helped him way too much. This ninc just keeps getting wider and wider, thanks to the vast food supply he partakes of, so he can’t tell me that capitalism isn’t helping him…that beer belly has got to go Bud! Along with the hairy halloween monster look—a real turnoff for women. This liberal loony has already assumed the crappy countenance of a commie….look at his disheveled-don’t-give-a-crap-look..so digusting. As for his flicks, does he really think that he could do films without the advantages of a free market system. The guy needs to get a grip when he believes what he said in 2002–”I’m a millionaire, I’m a multi-millionaire, I’m filthy rich. You know why I’m a multi-millionaire? ‘Cause multi-millions like what I do. That’s pretty good, isn’t it? There’s millions that believe in what I do. Pretty cool, huh?”
Quote’s from the Arcata Eye and in “Moore Lies, Moore Fun at Stanford” by Joe Fairbanks in the Stanford Review (17 April 2002) Somehow is reminiscent of Ayn Rand’s second handers…phony, phony, phony…the guy has no pony—-tail!

So the system was supposed to recognize what a ‘super genius’ he was and reward him before the ‘amazing’ product was finished? The dude’s so warped!

You lack compassion Karen! Michael Moore had to violate property rights by “stealing” (his admission) in order to make his first film!

Of course when the thugs in the US Treasury, Goldman Sachs, AIG and the Federal Reserve Bank beg, borrow and steal, they are righteously vilified. I guess when Michael Moore steals it’s perfectly acceptable and when the aforementioned do it, it’s wrong. Can you say: Hypocrite? Isn’t any violation of property rights wrong?

I haven’t viewed the film, but I’ve seen the trailers. It seems to me that the film’s title, “Capitalism: A Love Story” is inappropriate. Perhaps Moore should have called it “Corporatism: A Love Story”?

Very true (although I would make the title lead “State Corporatism”, just to be completely accurate). Sadly, Moore is far from the only public figure who can’t distinguish between capitalism and state corporatism, which is why so many people are misdirecting their anger at the wrong target.
