Lipitor – Eat It Like Candy, and It’s For the Whole Family, Too!

Someone wrote and pointed out that he saw a Lipitor ad in US News & World Report (December issue). The ad said:

Who can take Lipitor?
* People who cannot lower their cholesterol enough with diet and excersise
* Adults and children over 10

In fact, on the Pfizer website it actually says, “LIPITOR has not been studied in children under 10 years of age.” WooHoo! But they make candy cigarettes almost impossible to buy. Well, this is also posted on the Pfizer website.

Pfizer also gives this horrifying medical advice: “Your doctor should start you on a low-fat diet before giving you LIPITOR. Stay on this low-fat diet when you take LIPITOR.” First of all, defining what kind of fat is essential. Like the government’s fascist food pyramid, this advice is completely wrong and it should be unacceptable. The reasons for a cholesterol issue – if there is one at all – are numerous, and there are so many nutritional variables to consider other than “going on a low-fat diet,” which is almost impossible to define.
