Lady Obama’s Influence on Health

At a Kids’ State Dinner, the Obamas tried to wave the federal food pyramid magic wand over the minds of captured kiddies. As usual, the reader comments are the best part. Sloppy Joes and Zucchini fries were the healthy order of the day. I’m sure the Secret Service Salad was great, too. Surely that splotch of ketchup has no high fructose corn syrup in it?

A funny aside is that a White House spokesperson noted that although some kids were chosen as “winners” for their recipes, he noted that “all the kids were winners.” Of course, no kid can ever lose at anything, for his or her self-esteem might collapse and forever ruin that poor child.

I have always been a fan of FLOTUS except for her insistence on following this ridiculous food pyramid BS. I realize that there is no way she is going to rebel against the USDA, big Food, big Ag or big pharma, it ain’t gonna’ happen. She and her husband appear to be very healthy, as do their daughters, and I often wonder how much wheat and sugar they really consume.

I never cared for cabbage until I lived in Eastern Europe and my friends fed me forced meat cabbage rolls (sarmale). Lots of fatty beef and pork stuffed into cabbage with sauerkraut and slow boiled in lard. Cover with sour cream and enjoy. An inexpensive meal and I lost 35 lbs eating that way for 6 months.

I object to your characterization of Michelle Obama as a “Lady”!

“Yummy Cabbage Sloppy Joe’s”? Yummy cabbage is an oxymoron. After lunch the First Lady most likely went to the White House’s kitchen and, to quote Archie Bunker, “stuffed her face with milk and Fig Newton’s.” Who buys the carrion any of these tax-eating, hash-slinging busy body politician’s sell?

    I second David’s objection.
