John Lott’s latest pro-Bush column for Fox News is very unsound, to say the least. Lott cites the government’s shoddy statistics to prove his point that there is no recession. It’s all a myth created by the media, he says. Worse yet is his endorsement of Ben Stein’s notion that “if” a recession happens, it is inevitably the fault of the doom-and-gloom media. (The Federal Reserve and the omnipotent Regulatory State can’t possibly be blamed, of course.) John Lott has been great on guns, but on economics he can be painfully partisan.
