Guess Who Celebrates Dictatorship?Saturday, June 23, 2007
Who else but the Weekly Standard? Michael Goldfarb celebrates what he thinks is The Federalist Paper’s approval (No. 70) for an executive office dictatorship. Glenn Greenwald covers this in Salon. In the world according to Goldfarb, the framers “sought an energetic executive with near dictatorial power in pursuing foreign policy and war. So no, the Constitution does not put Congress on an equal footing with the executive in matters of national security.”
Lastly, another psycho interpretation of the Constitution from Goldfarb: “if they’d [ the framers ] wanted Congressmen to have an equal footing in matters of foreign policy, why not just give Congress its own diplomatic corps?”
Dictatorship in any other country besides the US is, of course, evil, and those dictatorial powers need to be nuked out of existence by the US. Is it the Weekly Standard or the Double Standard?
