The entire country's primary, secondary and university systems were closed for the past two weeks in response to the flu scare. But martial law was NOT employed, as some reports indicated. Most people here recognize it is big pharma trying to bilk the government out of a lot of money. I have heard that some villages in the western part of Ukraine were hit hard with some kind of flu, (but not necessarily H1N1). Which I could understand as some of the villages don't have enough regular contact with society for the residents to develop natural immune responses to the diseases that most westerners are exposed to on a regular basis. I am also reminded of the movie Serenity where scientists messing with DNA trying to reduce human aggression turned lots of people into savages. Will it be factory farms or DNA violators that produce the next pandemic?
