Coca-Cola Buys Politicians with $3M
Sunday, December 9, 2012Posted in category Food Politics
A November headline in the Chicago Tribune: “Coca-Cola gives $3M to city for anti-obesity, diabetes efforts.” As long as the big food companies that spearhead the corporatocracy can keep buying politicians and bribe them to champion the conventional wisdom that holds up Big Agra-Big Food as a “health partner,” this country will continue to spiral into the health sewer. Once again, the poor people of Chicago will lose, as they will be subjected to the arbitrary whims and misinformation of the anti-obesity campaign. Meanwhile, Rahm Emanuel struts around with a smirk as evil as his intentions. Thanks to Bab Adetiba for the heads-up.

Isn’t this also a payoff to keep Chicago from enacting a Bloomberg/New York City type ban on large sugary drinks?

Isn’t that bummer behind Rahm? Sure do wonder what Meeshelle would think of this if she knew about it? Sure goes against the grain of her ‘tending her garden” by the garden gate, no? I thought she was telling kids to steer clear of sugary drinks. But when it comes to money, guess the predatory power takes precedence over pimples, pounds and precious plainspoken principles.
Methinks that Coca Cola would have done better by putting money into messages telling kids to stay away from coke of the ‘nose variety’, so that they don’t follow in the steps of two back to back presidents who had so little willpower over their own minds and bodies that they had to blow the nasty into nostrils..the end result being one fkd up country–thanks O/W.
