CDC on Hepatitis C Hysteria

Another CDC hysteria alert.

So, the CDC is now recommending one-time testing for hepatitis C for everyone in the country born between 1945 and 1965, he said. All those who test positive for the virus should receive a brief alcohol screening and intervention and be referred to appropriate care and treatment services. Alcohol use has been shown to accelerate the progression of liver disease, the agency added.

I’ve been following this hepatitis C saga for some time, and I notice it is stepping up in velocity. The CDC has moved from recommending those at risk (organ transplants, drug use, sexual contact) to be tested, to recommending that all baby boomers be tested at once. Is mandatory testing coming to fruition? Hepatitis C is a cause of chronic liver disease. But then again, the government’s subsidized and highly profitable staple, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), is also being linked to chronic liver disease, and more people consume HFCS than those who are at risk for hepatitis C. Where are those warnings from the CDC? Did I miss The Memo?
