Ignorance
Friday, April 29, 2011 6:40 10 CommentsI have this really bad habit of countering ignorance through knowledge. Knowledge is power, and it is the kind of power we should covet, as opposed to exercising power – through political machinations – to control or trample the choices and lifestyles of our fellow humans. Ignorance is my least favorite epidemic.
De Coster’s Awesome Salsa Recipe
Sunday, April 24, 2011 19:16 7 CommentsHomemade salsa. I haven’t had the crap from a jar for a long time. This is a recipe I got from some libertarian friends (Ron and Tami Holland) when I visited them in North Carolina. So I modified it, like I do all recipes, and here it is: – (2) cans of Rotel tomatoes (one [...]
I Pay $7 Per Hour to Watch TV?
Wednesday, March 9, 2011 18:52 51 CommentsI’m what you would call TV ignorant. I don’t know what cable channels I have, I don’t care, and I never remember what channel is what each time I turn the bloody thing on. I watch the local Detroit news at 10pm sometimes, Judge Napolitano on FOX Business News when I can, or occasionally, a [...]
The Future of Social Networking
Wednesday, March 9, 2011 7:46 4 CommentsYouTube, Twitter, and Facebook will merge to form one super time-wasting website called … Thanks to Michael Harris for the great tip.
I Am What I Think
Thursday, February 24, 2011 8:47 11 CommentsThis post is the result of a conversation that was carried out on a Google Group I belong to that is for paleos (paleo-primal lifestylers) who are philosophically libertarian. The posts discussed writing style, and why some of us write the way we do. That is, why are the writings of some folks sanitized (softened to [...]
There’s No Time Like Bacon Time
Monday, January 3, 2011 15:21 4 CommentsWhat a great commercial. I have been buying these for my dogs since they were puppies. Of course, they love real bacon, too. On a similar note, this was my Christmas gift from my friend Sheryl.
Tom Brady, Man Up
Monday, October 18, 2010 19:51 7 CommentsGood Lord, every time I hear about Tom Brady’s ‘Justin Bieber’ haircut, I cringe. This is too much for me to take anymore. I’d rather hear yet another recapitulation (version 1,947) of Lindsay Lohan slogging through her daily ordeals as opposed to the incessant narratives about Tom Brady’s revolting haircut. This is just unacceptable for [...]
Adagio for Strings
Thursday, September 23, 2010 23:30 14 CommentsI must post these videos of my favorite musical piece of all time. The first video is a brilliant Leonard Slatkin performance conducting the BBC Orchestra at the Albert Hall in London shortly after 9/11. Slatkin is my favorite conductor, a spitfire who has been in trouble in recent times as he has been accused [...]
Prince Declares the Internet “Over”
Tuesday, July 6, 2010 23:24 8 CommentsI bet his publicists/managers are lying awake at night over this one. “The Internet is completely over,” Prince told the Mirror. “I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can’t get it.” He [...]
The Fish Fly?
Monday, June 28, 2010 21:48 7 CommentsIf you live in certain lakeside communities off of Lake St. Clair, as I do and always have, then you have experienced the hellish nightmare of fish fly season. In season, they cover everything in sight in thick layers: doors, streets, lamp posts, buildings, houses, mailboxes, etc. It’s the 6th Great Lake – Lake St. [...]
