Can’t We Just Ban Unruly Brats?

As opposed to banning ice cream trucks to placate the parents of spoiled children?

From CBS New York comes this great headline: “Park Slope Parents Want Ice Cream Trucks Banned To Avoid Testy Tantrums From Tots.”

Dozens of recent comments on a Park Slope parents message blog said ice cream vendors need to leave the area, especially places around the playgrounds and parks, to help avoid afternoon meltdowns and temper tantrums from children craving frozen treats.

“Go somewhere else, go on another corner because…it does make it too tempting for them,” Debbie Markovic said Monday as her lactose-intolerant daughter begged for ice cream.

…Community Board 7 said it gets complaints about noisy music from the ice cream trucks or even safety issues regarding parking. However, an all-out ban for health reasons is unrealistic because the trucks are run by private vendors and parents have the option to say “no.”

Saying no – imagine that! Thanks to Travis Holte for the link.

Verbal excrement like this provides sufficient testing of my libertarian values to make me consider calling for mandatory sterilization of large segments of the population. Drowning their offspring wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

I live, as it happens, in an apartment block which overlooks a municipal garden. People tell me how lucky I must be living so close to a garden.

Well, I don’t feel lucky at all, because from sunup to sundown on most days, the air is rent with the screams and howls of obese, sadistic, potty-mouthed, diaper-clad incontinents who obviously escaped from the nearest trailer-park. And those are just the parents. The toddlers are even more feral.

N.B. we are talking about a rather affluent suburb in a city of over four million. Poverty, therefore, is not an issue; dysgenics is, as is the total absence of delayed gratification.

Thank goodness it’s Easter at present, and the garden is remarkably quiet. So I can only assume that the trailer-park has reclaimed its escapees.
