Blame the Victim, not the Totalitarian State
Thursday, October 25, 2007I read a remarkable letter to the editor in Tuesday’s USA Today. I found a copy of this online. A Ron DeLong from Mesa, AZ says forget about compaining about airline/airport totalitarianism and inconvenience. Ron, a perfect, little poster child for passivity and obedience to the rules of the State, says this:
The The biggest problem is most passengers are not frequent fliers. As a frequent flier, I treat the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel politely and know how to obey the airport rules.
People who do not fly frequently often are the ones who hold up the security lines because they have banned items in their carry-on luggage or they forget to take off their shoes for scanning. Maybe we have so many problems at airports because we live in a “fast food nation.” Instant gratification has taught people that they can and should get whatever they want, whenever they want
