A Holistic MD on Big Cancer

This is a refreshing viewpoint from Dr. David Brownstein, MD, of the Center for Holistic Medicine in southeast Michigan.

The Powers-That–Be in the cancer fundraising world–such as the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the Komen Foundation–would have you believe we are making progress against cancer. However, we are not making any respectable progress. In fact, over the last 60 years, more and more people are diagnosed with cancer and more are dying from it. The Powers-That-Be are too busy fundraising and promoting faulty diagnostic tests such as mammograms instead of promoting research to determine the underlying cause of cancer and how to avoid getting cancer.

…We know that ionizing radiation causes cancer, including breast cancer. It is ludicrous to recommend yearly mammograms when, after 10 years of annual mammograms, a woman’s breasts have been exposed to the same amount of ionizing radiation that a woman received one mile from the nuclear blast at Hiroshima.

   As usual, Doc Brownstein is right on the ticket. Here from the New England Journal of Medicine in 9/2010

   ‘they
   published the first study in years to examine mammograms effectiveness. Their findings are a far cry from what most public health officials would have you believe.The bottom line is that mammograms seem to have reduced cancer death rates by only 0.4 deaths per 1,000 women—an amount so small it might as well be zero. Put another way, 2,500 women would have to be screened over 10 years for a single breast cancer death to be avoided.

   Never ever again would I have one of these tests. You just know if men had to have their balls or other smashed between a couple plates they wouldn’t put up with it for a millisecond…and yet, women, gullible creatures they are, have put up with this crap for eons.
