Carter Lied

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

I assumeĀ people saw Jimmy Carter’s remarksĀ calling the anti-Obamacare demonstrators “racist.” I thought I’d point out that on CNN, he was quoted as saying, “they wave signs in the air that said we should have buried Obama with Kennedy, those kinds of things are beyond the bounds.” Carter intentionally lied, of course, to make it sound like evil resistors were implying murder. The signs clearly said, “Bury Obamacare with Kennedy.” But no one in the media called this to the carpet.

This sign offers a plausible explanation for Carter’s statement (plausible, not necessarily true). And if this was the sign he was referring to, he could have simply misread it. On the other hand, with 2 million people there, someone could well have had a handmade sign that said exactly what he reported. Too bad for him there were only 30 to 60 thousand. It cuts his odds.

The media never ceases to distort the truth, or avoid it altogether. This reminds me of a story that recently aired on the news about an Obama poll group on Facebook that is being pursued by the Secret Service.

Interestingly, the announcer first referred the group as simply an “Obama Poll”, then went on to describe it further in detail. So, it gave me the impression that any Obama poll on Facebook could be a target of investigation.
