This is a recent follow up regarding ICE treatments - just snagged it tonite readin my e-mails.

Dudes! Please reconsider ICE treatment in light of this RECENT information - I had to agree w/ it given experimental evidence w/ my own body (50 ankle sprains and now this recent "bone shattering" incident w/ my outer meta-carpal (which is healing quite well thank-you - I am typing free hand w/o the wrap they gave me - which means you will ONLY get a 25% typo error in this message (big grin)))

But here is the link folks: please give it a check out:

Peace, brothers, & Deb S pay special attention to this given your recent issues - peace, DUDE!

Dr. Mercola's article/video publishing information on mercury toxicity due to amalgam fillings was rather enlightening. Given that I have 9 of them and have suffered a whole host of problems during my time with them....the past 38 years....I am having them removed ASAP.

Screw the American Dental Association and their license to put seeping poison in our bodies. Frankly speaking I'm of the opinion that this single issue if properly addressed would rid the US of at bare minimum of 50% of our autoimmune cases in the US, including muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, narcolepsy, autism, etc, etc. Not to mention saving a lot of kidneys and livers. It would also give many folks a return to living a dignified life. But big pharma won't stand for that.

I'm having my fillings removed as soon as heavenly possible!

For more reading on the subject may I suggest the following link: http://www.hugginsappliedhealing.com/index.php

Disclaimer: I have no relationship with Dr. Huggins. But I have read his subject material and was referred to him by a person who used his services and went from being bed-ridden to leading a productive life in a just a few weeks.

Karen...You are welcome to erase the link if you choose. It's your blog. But at least check it out for yourself. Maybe you would be so kind to blog about the subject.

@ Iluvatar :) I had to look back to Karen's post about the B&B fat farm (lol) you got me hooked on Egoscue.

I would eat more raw veggies, as I do like them, but for the time being I have to deal with soft-ish food. When I get my few surviving teeth pulled and replaced, I look forward to that changing.

As far as my doc, I understand he runs the direct LDL to avoid confrontation on ratio. My HDL is over 60. Again, his training is driving/serving his actions. It's my understanding from reading that the LDL rises and falls as the body needs it to do, and it's probably high currently because I'm still healing. A year ago I would have freaked about that number. At the moment, I'm more concerned about where my TSH is. :D

Please, good luck on the elbow & hip.

Seen many of your posts here before - you are an excellent contibutor.

Can you let us know on the LDL issue - have you considered a more primal diet (hint - one that involves eating raw vegetables about 5 days out of 7?)

Let me know when you get a chance...

Luck, Deb...

Iluvatar - I had a similar experience recently when I fractured my elbow from a fall. The ER doc, the bone man... all wanted to push pain pills at me. I still have the scripts sitting in my day-timer. I was in a splint for about 10 days. That fall also gave me a bump the size of an Athena melon on my left hip. (I don't do anything half-arsed.) No break! Just a bump. And, it's currently the size of a fried egg. Bruise came and went... it's been six weeks since that fall.

liber - my docs are always hounding me on that topic as well. My current GP marked in my file that I'm allergic to statins, reacting with myalgia. He is still concerned about my high LDL though (he runs the direct ldl - my last measurement was 279) so, I've allowed him to prescribe Niaspan. I don't follow with regular niacin voluntarily, the flush is disturbing to me.

Again, I'm thankful for my current GP. He doesn't frown when I bring him information/questions. He may be skeptical, but he should be of things that go against his training and observation. I'm about to teach him something about living gluten-free. I've been on thyroid replacement for 20+ years, gluten-free for a bit over a month... I think the thyroid pills are now giving me cardiac signals. I go for my stress test next week.

@ Liber:

Please read Mark Sisson's site RE: the role of cholesterols!

You will find that cholesterols are the fundamental building blocks OF LIFE!

Please seek out your specific position! But most of all read up on WHY cholesterols are NOT are key source of FEAR (active athletes actually have VERY HIGH levels of this - and it's a GOOD thing@!)

Help us de-bunk the G-d'd myth!!!!

Add the practitioners of conventional medicine to the list of arrogant pushers of these chemical poisons. The GP I've been seeing for the last six months all but kicked me out of his office on my last visit three months ago for my statement that I refuse to take ANY FORM of statin or other pharmaceutical potion to control my congenitally high blood cholesterol. Apparently if you don't buy into the idea that serious side effects are an inevitable and unavoidable risk that is associated with ALL medicines, now and forever more, or if you believe that there are natural and behavioral alternatives to pills and potions, then you are a bone in the medical establishment's throat to be spewed out.

Screw conventional medicine, and screw their glorified meth-lab suppliers who contribute to our declining health!

Gosh darn it? I wanted to take a break to write my papers!
2 Things:

1) Broke my hand on 20 Sep (being a goof-ball w/ my son). Outer metacarpal (close to a boxer's break). Ya wanna know how many "medicals" suggested I take anti-inflammatories and pain-killers????

100%

Know how many I took??
ZERO!!!!!!!!
They were pushin this shit at me like it was candy!

My hand swelled up like a pumpkin (as it SHOULD) - and my work colleagues freaked out!

I finally told the PA that pain was a good thing - it is your body TELLING you what needs attention. She stopped being a PUSHER after that - despite the fact that she still looks at me like I got 3 eyes (one in the middle of my forehead).

But I kept telling them and the colleagues that - HEY! swelling is GOOD - it is your body's natural response to address a trauma. It is a good thing - let your body do what it knows how to do!

I am 4 weeks into this and the docs are stunned at my healing rate - I have had to tell them my age about 6 times now.

Bettin a dollar on this one - I am done @ the 6-week point (PS sleeping 12 hours a day for the first 2 weeks made a big difference too!).

But what stunned me was their pushing pain killers and anti-inflammatories at me!

Took NONE of that!

Let the swelling do the healing.

I have had the similar experiences as an ex-Ultimate (disc - aka Frisbee) player. Sprained both ankles 25 times EACH ankle. Can't play disc now except w/ ankle braces.

Know how many times I applied ICE on the joint - NEVER! If I had, I wasn't going to be able to walk on Sunday! Always HEAT - takes about 30-45 minutes to unlock the joint and you are good to cleat up! (After you walk the floor for about :15).

So, yea, I am a little leery of our current medicos trying to "control" us...

2) Has to w/ my mom. I am stunned at the treatment she gets.

Super low sodium diet, can't be in direct sunlight (and can't get Vitamin D as a result). Has a diet that would give me the runs 24/7. They are slowly killing her.

That's why I don't see doctors for the past 15 years - are they f*cking idiots????????

And I don't plan on so soon either...

FYI - quack!
